New Gift Giving Rules...

  " First off, the combination of free Gems by account and Gifting was being badly abused.  I hope everyone can appreciate that.  When the 30 Gems codes were accidentally released, our daily registrations TRIPLED as massive numbers of fake accounts were crewated to cash in on what would have otherwise been a minor error on our part.  At least one player crewated over a hundred accounts, thus generating over 2000 Gems for him/herself over the two days the codes were active (could have been 9000 Gems, but that player seemed to only have one of the three codes.)

Our World accounts do not, by default, have the ability to give gifts.  The ability must be activated.  For the most part, any Gem addition other than coupon codes and referrals will unlock gifting.

In addition, existing ourWorld players can give gifts if:

THEY ARE RESIDENTS
THEY HAD COLLECTED 600 GEMS BEFORE THE CHANGE
THEY ARE LEVEL 25 OR HIGHER (change made today) The 600 Gems and level 25 criteria are one time deals.  If you reach level 25 tomorrow, or cash in your 60th 10 Gem coupon, it will not unlock gifting.  These exceptions are meant for current players, who may or may not have purchased Gems in the past, but are used to gifting.  There simply aren't too many fake accunts that have reached level 25.  Note: We have already considered and rejected that idea of opening up "free" gifting to players of a certain level or highter.  Gems are ourWorld's primary source of income, and we have to be conservative with the freebees."
